The Maze Runner Movie Night

Welcome back to another movie night!
This time we have chosen...
The Maze Runner!

So this movie night is a little bit different
from the last few ones. Since
the Maze Runner isn't a movie for little kids,
there aren't as many decorations, but I will give a
few ideas if you are throwing a movie night or a party.

In case you want to know, the Maze Runner font
is Pirulen Bold

Ta Da!

Our Menu

Main Dish
Frypan's Stew
(I accidentally wrote soup)

Side Dish
Griever Rolls

Dessert
Maze Vine Cookies

Drink
WICKED Grief Serum

Now for the stew, this food is book accurate. The main ingredients are
corn, meat (we had elk), potatoes, and carrots

Okay so it is TECHNICALLY in the movie, but just in a
deleted scene. Here it is

So for the side dish, you baked a few rolls and
place toothpicks in them to add the griever effect.
I know, I know they are sad looking grievers, but
I had to keep them because they were adorable anyways

So in the book, there ARE cookies, but I tried to add
a green color to them so they would look maze worthy.
Didn't work so well, but were still delicious! This was the
hardest part of the menu to create

The drink is Sprite mixed with a drop of blue food
coloring. The Greif Serum is the antidote for the sting
from the grievers

Now if you were to add decorations, hang dark green streamers from
the ground to the ceiling, twisting them, to represent vines

We just add the book for decorations

For movie nights there are three types themes, Family, Adult, and Girls. Family movie nights is what we usually do with kid friendly movies. Adult movie nights are more thriller movies or ones that the kids won't care for, such as La La Land or the X-Files. Chick-flicks are the movies for Girl's movie nights, ones that the kids AND guys won't care for. So there you go! I absolutely love this series, books and movies.
Have Fun!

Remember, WICKED is good

Writing Prompts: Space

You don't see a lot of space stories as you do with other genres. Space kinda of freaks me out at the thought of what it might be like for some of the astronauts in movies and books. But in the end, they are still entertaining and full of suspense. I have compiled another list of writing prompts so here you go!

  • You're an astronaut on the first mission to the moon since 1970's. You begin to dig for samples in the soft sentiment when your shovel hits something soft, yet tough. You brush the dirt away, revealing a dead man in a bloody spacesuit.
  • The last message from the starship was "Let us drift. It's for your own good." Explain why.
  • After no contact from outer space, the space center finally receives an alien radio signal with only seven words, "The birds are not what they seem"
  • You are a space traveler on a mission has gone wrong. Your ship is headed towards a black hole, and you expect to die. However, once you enter it, you are surprised at the strange outcome.
  • Turns out humanity is wrong. Atlantis isn't a city, it's a planet.
  • From the depth of space, a signal is received containing the message, "Be quiet. They will hear you."
  • You were born on a colonizing spacecraft on its way to a distant star. You are part of the middle generation. Born too late to have seen Earth and born too early to live to see your destination.
  • "Mum! He turned the gravity off again!"
  • The year is 2020. The first astronauts have landed on Mars. They find a cave with a single human skeleton and four words written on the wall.
  • Governments all over the world cease all space programs. Ten years later, a rebellious group is about to launch into space and they find out why space programs ceased.
  • Aliens came to invade earth and effortlessly wipe out the human race, only to be fought off by the wildlife.
  • While a ship is floating in space, a coming meteor shower damages the outside. When the astronauts look outside, you see rocks surrounding your ship- and a floating space suit with a dead astronaut inside. Except all of your crew is accounted for.

A New Meaning

Love is just a word
until someone comes along
and gives it meaning

This is a word we've listen to every day of our life. We hear it from every book, every person, every movie and we repeat it as often as we hear it. Nothing every exists without a mention of it. We have grown accustomed to the sound of the word. The meaning was obvious to us, it was the same as all the other times. Until a random person shows us that, maybe, just maybe, it may have a different meaning. And they are there to tell us it.

Say the word love, no matter the meaning

Writing Prompts: Time Travel and Future

I don't know about you guys, but I always love a good time travel story or movie. The Terminator series is personally my favorite and Doctor Who is the best series of the time travel genre. These stories add a unique twist to stories and leave you confused the second time you read it. This is the second list of writing prompts I have writing, with more to come in different genres.

  • A picture on your mantle unexpectedly falls and crashes to the floor. As you go to pick it up, you notice a note hidden behind the picture. The message is from the future - and is written by you. It instructs you to do something important.
  • A detective is assigned to a string of mysterious murders. They discover that the killer is a time traveler who won't be born for another 10 years.
  • You are an assassin. You don't use explosives, guns, or poison. You are a master of the butterfly effect.
  • Write a detailed guide on how to identify a time traveler.
  • You're a time-traveling biographer. You travel through time befriending historical figures to better understand them. However, you've gotten a little too close to your most recent subject.
  • A time traveler who can no longer remember what he came from.
  • "I was worried. You could have at least called." "I was stuck in the year 1472. How exactly did you expect me to do that?
  • You're a detective for the city police force. A dead body has been left at your station's steps. The body looks exactly like you.
  • After falling through time, you find yourself in the 1800s. You check your phone only to find that you have a wifi signal. The name of the network is "If you can see this, you need to hide".
  •  I know I'm getting close to finishing my time machine because I've caught several older versions of myself attempting to sabotage my lab.
  • You volunteer to be the first human to test time travel, only going an hour forward in time. When you step out of the travel pod, all humans are gone
  • When she said it was "in the fifties outside", she meant the nineteen-fifties.
  • All your life people have been staring at you, a lot of people, for a long time. One day, you realize all of them are time travelers who have come to see you.
  • When I was a little girl, I had an imaginary friend. When I grew up, I discovered it was me.
  • Yesterday, humanity figured out how to send objects back in time. Today, you receive a package from yourself.
  • When you were a child, you saw your parents get killed by a delusional man who claimed he was a time traveler. You just thought he was crazy, but as years past and you grow older, your best friend starts to look eerily similar to your parent's killer.
  • The person you loved has just reappeared after disappearing without a trace one year ago. Only. they've aged 20 years
  • Jokingly you say to your friend, "If either of us discovers time travel, the first place we visit is this moment." The second those words leave your mouth, what appears to be an older version of yourself rounds the corner, and he looks terrified.
  • A few hours after meeting a very curious stranger, she has finally convinced you she really is a time traveler. Sha asks where and when you are now, and when you answer, a look of horror spreads on her face. She says you have to get out of the country. Right now.
  • As a kid, you made a "time travel password" as a joke for if your future self ever tried to contact you. You had forgotten all about it until today - when you received an email with it as a subject line.
  • You travel back in time only to find that our history is a lie.
  • A group of time travelers have kidnapped you and taken you to the future because they want you to help them pass their exam for 21-century history.

Hope you can use these for the future *wink wink*

Live It

I'll look back on this
and smile because it was
life
and I decided to live it

We don't regret the moments that we did, where we rather regret the moments we didn't do. At a young age, we feel as if we can't or we are too scared. The moment is put off for a little time here or a year there. Then one day, we look in the mirror to see a person who is no longer able to go on an adventure, willingly or not. Take the moment while you can, before you can't

Stories are far better with an incredible moment

A Want to Love

It is a risk to love.
What if it doesn't work out?
Ah, but what if it does

No one wants their heart broken, girls and guys alike. Admiring from afar, the slight flutter in you have when you hear their name, seems to be the safest. How will you ever learn to love if you don't experience it? Yes, your heart might break. But at the same time, it might grow. Just make sure it is someone you truly will love, not a seasonal one.

It would be a pleasure to have your heart broken by your love

Desire to Speak

Tears are words
the heart can't say

Body language says a lot, more than our words do. So when we cry, it is a silent language saying that you need someone. For comfort or for love. Even for something silly such as a romantic movie. Our heart yearns to say so many words. Crying is the only way to say those things.

In an odd way, crying is a comfort.

Writing Prompts: Romance

I love romance as much as the next girl does. The crying, the laughing, the love, it makes you feel all warm inside. But the romance in books is the best as it gives in the thoughts of the relationship. Writing romance story is hard, as it often becomes a cliche. So, I have compiled this list of the best romance prompts to give you that kick for starting.

  • "I was just kinda of hoping that you'd y'know... fall in love with me"
  • She thought she was alone in the gym so she decided to sing eye of the tiger at the top of her lungs while exercising. He found it so entertaining that he just had to meet her.
  • Their hands met, reaching for the same book.
  • "Okay, yes, I am in love with you." "I knew it!"
  • When someone's heart breaks so does a piece of our world; this creates fissures, valleys, and even cracks in the pavement. Tell the story behind the Grand Canyon.
  • "You gotta stop doing that." "What?" "Saying things that make me wanna kiss you"
  • A mighty king disguises himself as a peasant, to search for a maiden who will love him for who he is, and not just his kingdom.
  • "Take my hand" "Why?" "I am trying to ask you to marry me, so take my hand, darn it!"
  • A princess who falls in love with a gladiator
  • "When I first saw her I didn't really see her, just the pile of books she was carrying."
  • He looks at her like he just realized what love is
  • The world was collapsing, and the only thing that mattered to me was that she was alive
  • "Why am I so fascinated by you?"
  • "She's crying, what do I do?" "Go comfort her." "How do I do that?" "With hugs" "With what?"
  • He did not love her. At least, that's what he told himself before he left.
  • Instead of two rebellious lovers going against their parents,  have two rebellious people who hate each other, yet their families want them to marry.
  • She was the only one who loved him for who he was.
  • Your soulmate's first words they say to you are written on your skin.
  • They were looking, but I didn't care. I ran to him anyways.
  • The High Queen slid through the hidden passage to meet with her imprisoned love.
  • When people reach 18 years old, they stop aging until they meet their soulmate so they can grow old together.
  • A love story based on the unlikely romance of two famous people from history.
  • Everything is black and white until you meet your soulmate when everything turns to color. But when your soul mate dies, everything goes back to black and white
  • He knew that he was home when her lips touched his
  • I live in the apartment next door and every time you cook you set off the smoke alarm so I am here to teach you how to cook.

Hope these help!

Keep Yourself Together

It takes ten times as long
to put yourself back together
as it does to fall apart

This quote is another of my favorites. It shows that you can't fall apart. Even though it hurts now, that it feels unbearable, it is protecting you from the worst pain. Don't let the suffering destroy you, don't let it break you. You have to stay strong, it's going to ache, it will throb, and it will hurt. But you can't. Trying to put yourself back together is almost impossible.

How much it hurts now, it will be ten times worse if you fall apart

Love to Last

Love is patient.
Don't rush what you
want to last forever

One day, we keep saying to ourselves. One day. We will meet our soulmate, our prince charming. The man who will sweep us off our feet one day. We also keep hoping that that day is today. We search for a glance, a comment, a smile our way. I think this way too. But I also say to myself, once I meet him, I won't have the butterflies in my stomach or the thump in my chest when I hear his name. I won't fall out of love with him, but it will be a new love, one that we discover together.

Wait for your chance and enjoy every moment of it

More to Read

The world is a big book
and those who don't travel
only read one page

I enjoy traveling. Always have and always will. I long to go to new countries and see sights. This is reading for me, to travel the world. I don't see how some people don't want to see the next page.  You experience life, you read the entire book. Leave what you are comfortable with behind. Take the leap. Jump from page to page.

Ignore the spoilers and read the world yourself

Blind in the Shadows

Stars can't shine
without darkness

Every day of our life is like the night sky. The sun disappears and the shadows surround us. We are left in the darkness, blind to what is around and ahead of us. Then, slowly and surely, teeny tiny bits of light poke through the black canvas. They guide the way, showing that we are not alone. You have to go through the darkness to see the beauty, to see the stars.

Close your eyes, hold a breath, wait for the glow.

Too Quick to Past

We are only a moment

This sentence may be upsetting at first glance, but then I hope you see it a little bit differently. We are only a moment, that's true, for a world that has been spinning for thousands of years. We are tiny, small as sand, compared to the history of the earth. But that is what makes it better. We are only a moment, yes, but this is our moment. We can shine or we can fall. We can dance or we can watch. We can have people remember this moment or let it fade.

It is our choice. Because this is our moment, our time, our life.

A Thousand Stories to See

A reader lives a thousand
lives before they die

We read to escape, to hope that maybe one day we could have adventures as our characters do. What we don't see is that we have already done all things in books. We've survived the disasters, sailed to the great unknown, found romance, fought pirates and robots, see things that we couldn't dream. We have been everywhere from the meer corner of our seat. We lived the lives of those in the pages of an old dusty story on a brown wooden shelf, who are people that are only a few words and nothing more.

We read the stories, to become the stories.

Closed Eyes

Every girl is beautiful.
Sometimes, it just takes the
right guy to see it

Every girl wants to be beautiful. Dozens of ways are tried to pamper girls to be pretty. But they don't need the world to judge how they look when the world is the one pushing them down. We all have been beautiful, we just didn't see it. Until that one day when a guy, just one person, is there to tell how you really look.
Beautiful.

There are infinite ways to be beautiful.
